Stone worktops for Guildford kitchens
Across Guildford, we measure, cut and fit stone worktops in quartz, granite, porcelain and marble: whole kitchens, a fresh top on the cabinets you already have, islands, splashbacks and bathroom vanities. Every job is templated in your kitchen so the stone fits the walls you actually have. Ring us, or send your number and we will phone back with a price.

Pick your stone
Each one looks, wears and cleans differently. If you are torn between the two most popular, read quartz vs granite first.
What we can do
Anything from one run of worktop to a complete kitchen plus island. Where the cabinets are sound, new stone on the existing units may be all the kitchen needs.
From first call to fitted worktop
Price it
Ring 01483 694680 or send the form with rough sizes and a stone in mind, and you get a price back.
Measure it
Once the cabinets are in and level, we come and template the room, recording every wall, corner and opening.
Cut it
Back at the workshop the slab is wet-cut to that template: sink and hob holes, edge profile, any drainer grooves.
Fit it
We install and finish the stone, ready for the sink and hob to be connected. What happens at each stage.
Guildford already knows a good stone surface
The cobbles on Guildford High Street are not really cobbles but granite setts. In 1868 a public subscription raised £11,000 to repave the street with them, under the borough surveyor Henry Peak, and Surrey County Council’s later refurbishment set out to reuse the original setts wherever it could. A stone that has carried traffic up the hill for more than 150 years gives a fair idea of how granite holds up in a busy kitchen. See granite worktops. Source: Surrey Live.
Chalk country means hard water
Thames Water supplies Guildford, and it describes most water in the South East as hard, having filtered through chalk and limestone. You see it as white crust around taps. Limescale does no harm to quartz, granite or porcelain, though the acid in descalers will etch marble. Our limescale guide explains how to clean each stone safely. Source: Thames Water.
Conservation areas and listed homes
Guildford Borough Council looks after 40 conservation areas, including the town centre, Onslow Village, Charlotteville and Warren Road, St Catherine’s and Stoke Fields, and more than 1,000 listed buildings. Article 4 directions in places such as the town centre, Onslow Village and Charlotteville bring some outside alterations under planning control. A new worktop inside an unlisted house is not normally affected by any of this, but if your home is listed, check with the council before changing a historic kitchen. New homes on the way
Guildford is growing as well. At Slyfield, the council’s Weyside Urban Village is planned for up to 1,500 homes on a 41-hectare brownfield site, a scheme that includes moving the sewage treatment works and building a new council depot. New homes often come with basic worktops, and stone can be added once you have moved in: we template on the units already there. Source: Guildford Borough Council.

Common questions
Do you supply kitchen units too?
We specialise in the stone: worktops, islands, upstands, splashbacks, sills and vanity tops. Your kitchen fitter puts the units in first, and we template once they are fixed and level.
How do I get a price?
Ring 01483 694680 or fill in the short form. Approximate sizes or a sketch, and the stone you fancy, get you a first figure.
Which stone is right for me?
For low upkeep and a uniform look, quartz. For cooking hard and a natural surface, granite. For heat plus bright, sunny rooms, porcelain. For pure beauty, accepting it will age, marble. The guides go into more detail.
Can you replace only the worktops?
Yes, as long as the units underneath are sound and level.
