Stone worktops in Farnham

We fit stone worktops in Farnham and the villages around it, from the Georgian streets below the castle to Hale, Heath End, Wrecclesham and Badshot Lea. Quartz, granite, porcelain and marble for new kitchens, replacement tops, islands and bathrooms, each cut to measurements taken in your home.

A Georgian town with hundreds of listed buildings

Farnham’s town-centre conservation area was first designated in 1970, and Waverley Borough Council’s 2005 appraisal counted 387 listed buildings inside it, plus 135 locally listed ones. The council notes that the town’s Georgian reputation rests largely on Castle Street, though Victorian and later buildings are mixed in throughout.

Conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, so a new worktop inside an ordinary house is not normally affected. A listed building is different: work inside can need listed building consent, so check with Waverley’s planning team first.

Kitchens in older houses

Period kitchens bring their own puzzles: walls that lean, alcoves, chimney breasts and floors that slope. A stone worktop has no give, so we template the room exactly and scribe the stone to the wall rather than leaving a gap for an upstand to hide. For a period look, a honed granite or marble often suits better than a high-gloss finish.

Under the castle

Farnham Castle has stood over the town since building began in 1138 for Henry de Blois, Bishop of Winchester, and the castle is now in the care of English Heritage. It is a reminder of how long Farnham has been lived in, and why so many of its homes need measuring rather than assuming.

From first call to fitted worktop

  1. Price it

Ring 01483 694680 or send the form with rough sizes and a stone in mind, and you get a price back.

  2. Measure it

Once the cabinets are in and level, we come and template the room, recording every wall, corner and opening.

  3. Cut it

Back at the workshop the slab is wet-cut to that template: sink and hob holes, edge profile, any drainer grooves.

  4. Fit it

We install and finish the stone, ready for the sink and hob to be connected. What happens at each stage.
