Stone worktops in Woking

We template and fit stone worktops in Woking, from Victorian villas near the station to Horsell, Knaphill, Goldsworth Park and Old Woking. New kitchens, stone on your existing units, islands and splashbacks, in quartz, granite, porcelain or marble, all cut to the measurements we take in your kitchen.

A town built around its station

Woking is younger than it looks. The railway arrived on 12 May 1838, and the station was put down on open heath about a mile and a quarter from the old village, now Old Woking. The town centre grew up around the station from the 1860s, after the London Necropolis Company sold off land it did not need for Brookwood Cemetery, and the High Street was laid out by 1863.

So Woking’s housing runs from Victorian and Edwardian villas close to the centre, through interwar streets, to later estates such as Goldsworth Park. Kitchens vary as much as the houses do, which is why we measure each one in person.

Plenty of flats

At the 2011 census, flats and apartments made up nearly a quarter of the homes in Woking borough, a bigger share than in Farnham or Godalming. Stone worktops go into flats just as well as houses; what changes is the route in. Tell us the floor, whether there is a lift and how tight the stairwell is, and we plan the size of each piece so it can be carried up safely.

Heritage on the doorstep

Woking’s Shah Jahan Mosque, built in 1889, was the first purpose-built mosque in Britain, and the Basingstoke Canal, completed in 1794 and restored by 1991, still runs through the borough. Older and listed buildings here are covered by Woking Borough Council’s planning team, so if your home is listed, check with them before changing a kitchen that is part of its historic fabric.
