A big village with its own history
Cranleigh is home to just over 11,000 people and has a few firsts of its own. In 1859 the Reverend John Henry Sapte and Dr Albert Napper opened what is recognised as the country’s first cottage hospital here. The railway came in 1865 and closed under the Beeching cuts in 1965, after almost exactly a century, and part of the old line is now the Downs Link path for walkers and cyclists.

Cut it
Back at the workshop the slab is wet-cut to that template: sink and hob holes, edge profile, any drainer grooves.
